The Affordable Care Act continues to bolster hiring in the insurance industry, with close to one thousand new jobs planned for the workforces of two companies across the United States.

Serco North America, a federal contractor, recently announced plans to hire 477 employees in the middle of November to help support new patients joining health insurance exchanges, according to Insurance Journal.

The jobs will be added to Lawton, Oklahoma, and are seen as welcome news after economic turmoil in the area was caused by the federal shutdown and other employers' cutting jobs.

Positions available will include administrative and clerical workers and openings in data entry, call answering and quality assurance. Pay will range from $10.88 to $20 per hour plus benefits depending on the position.

In addition, Amherst, New York will soon see growth in the industry. Fidelis Care New York is expanding its offices, and in doing so doubling their size and adding 385 new jobs to their facility, according to the Buffalo News. These new positions will come as the company aims to have more than 1,000 employees by 2018.
