The insurance industry is seeing a big increase in hiring, as two major firms are planning on adding around 1,500 employees, the majority of which will be located in Georgia.
Progressive Insurance recently announced plans to bring in more than 900 employees nationwide in as many as nine states in the coming months, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The exact number expected to be hired in each state was not made available, but openings at the company will include IT, call center, analyst, claims, legal and corporate positions.
Additionally, Progressive said it will offer flexible work environments for their employees, and their hiring comes after competitor State Farm held job fairs in Georgia to fill as many as 800 openings by the end of 2013 in claims, service and sales positions.
Meanwhile, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia plans to add office space to accommodate 600 new jobs in the city of Columbus, according to the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer. The company plans to fill customer service and claims positions, primarily, with specialized positions including medical directors and claims auditors also seeing openings on the company's website.
