Customer service and call center hiring is about to see an uptick in the center of the country, as new job openings in Texas and South Dakota aim to add hundreds of jobs to the industry.

Thermostat producer Nest Labs plans to expand its technical support and customer service abilities with the help of Austin-based SPOT BPO, with plans to hire 140 full-time customer service workers, according to NBC KXAN. A new location in the southeast area of the city will also allow for up to 125 technical support agent positions in the near future.

In North Sioux City, meanwhile, customer-service management firm Alorica plans to add an additional 75 jobs to its ranks thanks to a new deal with a new financial services client. Workers at the company answer customer service calls, perform technical assistance and sometimes work on billing and device-related services, according to NBC KTIV.

Many new hires will work on inbound calls regarding home mortgage concierge issues. The company already employs 700 workers and has potential means to expand up to 1,000 employees.
