The unemployment rate for U.S. veterans recently reached a 3-year low, with just under 7 percent of former military employees still seeking a new job as of October. Much of that fact is due to more businesses extending employment offers to this group.

Financial firm Edward Jones is among the most recent companies to provide jobs specifically for veterans, Advisor One reported. The source stated that the St. Louis, Missouri-based corporation is hiring more than 300 veterans to fill executive and advisory positions. The corporation also just released a promotional hiring video that asks vets to consider employment with Edward Jones before looking at other private entities. The source stated that the firm feels ex-military personnel have skills and experiences that will be of good use in the financial industry.

"Hiring military veterans is a part of the Edward Jones culture and heritage and not simply viewed as a corporate initiative," Jim Wedde of Edward Jones said in a release regarding the employment drive. He went on to mention that, while figures have been declining for vets, there are still those struggling to find work that the firm can easily assist.
