Call centers represent a major source of employment in regions throughout the United States. Customer service workers can find a steady income, often with benefits included.

In one recent example, Wells Fargo is planning to bring around 200 new workers on board at its Salem, Oregon, facility, the Statesman Journal reports. Company spokesman Tom Unger stated that it would begin the process in July and that it would last a total of six months. The workers will be housed at a 108,000 square-foot building, a former Wachovia location.

The starting salaries for the positions range from $11.86 to $12.89 per hour, with certain incentives available for workers as well. Those hired will be expected to handle matters including home equity, banking and credit cards.

In nearby Washington, other major companies are looking to add hundreds of workers at call centers. The Bellingham Herald reports T-Mobile will add approximately 350 new employees over the next year.  The source reports that the company is working with WorkSource to bring on around 30 new workers throughout the next 12 months.
