Airport hiring in both restaurant and retail positions is projected to grow in the near future, as new establishments and renovated wings in Atlanta and Philadelphia will bring a possible 1,000 jobs to the sector combined.
Three new restaurants in Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Chick-fil-A, Varasano's Pizza and Great Wraps, are currently in the process of looking to fill 200 positions. An additional 700 future employees are expected to join them in the coming months to fill positions for the more than 250 concessions locations in the world's busiest airport, according to Atlanta's NBC 11 affiliate.
The jobs available at the airport include behind-the-scenes dishwashers and cooks such as pizza makers, rising through general manager positions.
About 300 jobs at Philadelphia International Airport have been created by a newly renovated terminal and openings in other concession businesses, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Retail locations will range from shops to food courts, newsstands, bars and full-service restaurants, ranging from entry level associates and staff to management positions.
Renovations on the airport's F Terminal have doubled the number of restaurants and shops available while adding seating. Pay levels range from around minimum wage, $8, to as high as $42,000 per year.
