During February, Florida posted impressive job numbers during a time when the majority of the country was reporting employment halts. The growth continued through March, as Gov. Rick Scott recently announced that the state created more than 20,900 jobs last month.
According to local news station WCTV, job growth in the southern state has far outpaced the nation's average. Since March 2013, employment has risen by more than 3 percent, which has been the fastest growth the state has seen since 2006. Scott explained at a press conference that Florida's continued growth would help citizens of the region to create a stronger economy.
"March's job creation number brings more good news for Florida families," Scott said, as quoted by the source. " … Our improving economy is evidence that our policies are working, and we will continue to work until every Floridian that wants a job can get a job."
While the majority of the state's industries posted improvements, several stood out among the crowd. The housing market, for example, reported high sales throughout the year. Additionally, Scott explained that the private sector has continued to grow, as more than 563,900 jobs have been added since December 2010.
