The U.S. restaurant industry experienced minor gains in 2012, but sector analysts predict strong profits from foodservice establishments in the future. According to CSNews Foodservice, many restaurants held their ground last year and are searching for a fast start to 2013 to significantly boost their profits.
"There are still growth opportunities in the industry; it's a matter of identifying the opportunities and, as always, meeting consumers' needs and wants," Bonnie Riggs, a restaurant industry expert for the NPD Group, told the news source.
NPD Group analysts noted that quick-service establishments saw more customers in July, August and September of last year than in other months, which could impact these businesses' 2013 marketing strategies. Restaurant owners may develop innovative plans to attract guests and could consider increasing their workforces to fulfill customers' expectations.
Additionally, NPD Group data showed that the restaurant industry was stable last year, and many establishment owners see expansion opportunities in 2013. If restaurants grow, more staff members could be added, which may help the industry's sales and profits increase.
