Millions of people around the country have been able to find steady employment in the restaurant industry. According to recent data, there are many more jobs still available in the sector for those looking for work.
USA Today reports that since an employment low during February 2010, jobs have consistently been added within the industry. The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that there has been an average of 21,000 new jobs each month since that time.
In an interview with the news source, Darden Restaurants' vice president of acquisitions, Andy Snitz, said that more people were going out to eat because of positive experiences and the modest price of a restaurant meal when compared to other luxuries.
"It's not easy to go buy big-ticket items, to buy cars or take trips," Snitz said in an interview with the news source. "A trip to the restaurant is not that hard to do."
The retail sector has also seen more positive numbers as of late. According to the Kronos Retail Labor Index, 34,776 jobs were added in the industry during the month of August.
