The Global Executive Solutions Group’s Truckload and Dedicated Practice, led by George Fieser Partner and Jeff Friess Senior Practice Leader, attended the 15th Annual Recruitment & Retention Conference in February. While at the conference, they learned about the latest strategies and techniques for GESG to remain a valuable partner in providing top talent in the truckload industry.  In a fast-paced industry where a great deal of business communication is done either over the phone or connecting through email and text messaging, attending conferences allows them the opportunity to meet in person to better understand both our clients and prospective client’s current challenges and needs.

Driver TurnoverDriver NeedThe Recruitment & Retention Conference, held in Nashville, TN, focused on how to improve driver recruiting and retention.  Nine million people are employed by trucking companies in the United States, of which 3.5 million are truck drivers. In 2017, the turnover rate for truck drivers in the truckload industry was 86%. In addition to a shortage of truck drivers, truckload organizations struggle to have a succession plan to replace retiring managers, directors and executives. With 10,000 baby-boomers retiring every day, truckload companies must transfer decades of trucking industry knowledge and subject-matter-expertise to the next generation of leaders. By the year 2026, 900,000 total truck drivers will need to be hired due to industry growth and truck driver retirements.

George and Jeff are both leaders in our Truckload and Dedicated Practice, specifically focused on our client’s requirements for individual producers, managers, directors, Vice Presidents and C-Level in virtually every functional discipline.

George is a seasoned transportation executive whose successful career spans over 25 years with several leading Truckload and LTL carriers. As a VP & GM, he managed a fleet of over 2,000 trucks with P&L responsibility for a $300 million budget. As an accomplished Executive Recruiter, George has been able to leverage his substantial industry experience to help other transportation professionals achieve their business and career objective.

Jeff is part of our truckload & dedicated contract carriage team. With over 15 years as an executive recruiter, he has provided clients with both permanent & contract staffing services and fully understands the business cycles of each.

“I noticed that the dynamic range between what an average person could accomplish and what the best person could accomplish was 50 or 100 to 1. Given that, you’re well advised to go after the cream of the cream. A small team of A+ players can run circles around a giant team of B and C players.”
