LoginAlternative energy hiring across the country is booming, with more than 38,000 clean energy jobs announced in the second quarter of 2013 alone – 1,000 of which were created in Louisiana.
More than 58 clean energy and clean transportation projects were announced during the second quarter of 2013, which could create as many as 38,600 jobs, according to Manufacturing Business Technology. With more than 500 such announcements since September 2011, the industry is seeing a massive influx of capital, leading to a major boost in job creation.
The second quarter totals from 2013 were up by about 1,200 jobs compared to the same quarter in 2012. Hawaii, Alaska, Maryland, Kansas and Missouri were among the top 10 states announcing new job growth, with California ranking first as 12 projects could create more than 9,000 jobs.
Another 1,765 total jobs could be created by a new operation agreement between the Port of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Lake Charles Clean Energy, according to the Associated Press. Around 1,500 construction jobs and 165 full-time positions will be formed by the $2.6 billion project in handling and storing methanol for export around the world.
