One of the most effective ways that employers have been able to find qualified candidates to fill open roles is through online resources. Gathering resumes and references through the digital portal has, in some cases, changed the way that human resource professionals find the right people.

In one recent case, Marussia F1 Team collaborated with Monster Worldwide to locate the best recruits for its racing organization. In a release, the human resources firm announced it had been able to match the talent with the needs of the team and that it had brought on board10 qualified candidates.

"We're thrilled to see the Marussia F1 Team reaching in their hiring goals and to have helped find jobs for these ten fantastic candidates," Ted Gilvar, Monster's global chief marketing officer, said in a release. "It's great to see the interest from around the globe."

While the racing team was able to find qualified candidates, some sectors have struggled to fill open positions. According to the U.S. Labor Department, there are currently 326,000 jobs that have yet to be filled.
