Manufacturing job growth continues to increase at a rapid pace across the country, with new developments in Tennessee and South Dakota responsible for the formation of more than 150 jobs.
Blount County in Tennessee will soon see Surface Igniter bring its administrative and production means from Puerto Rico, contributing to the addition of 108 new jobs in the area, according to Knoxville News. The company manufacturers sparking devices for furnaces, dryers, stoves and grills.
Initial hiring will bring 54 people into the company, with total employment over the next three years expected to climb to its eventual goal. Jobs will include administration, operations workers, maintenance, furnace operators and tool and die makers.
Another 65 jobs are coming to South Dakota's Black Hills region, as Permian Tank & Manufacturing plans to expand its steel storage tank operations in the region in the coming months. Hiring is expected to begin next spring, and the growth is expected to help the firm expand its facilities from current production levels to a full line that can serve the needs of the oil and gas industry.
