The Huffington Post reports that the healthcare sector added 290,000 jobs between January 2012 and November 2012, and job growth in this segment has outpaced employment expansion in many other professions.
"Healthcare is adding several hundred thousand jobs a year regardless of what's going on in the broader economy," U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics spokesperson Dan Diamond told the news source.
Employment in the healthcare industry has increased in each of the past six years, as more healthcare providers have sought additional workers for clinical research, pharmaceutical and other medical positions.
Herbalife, a healthcare firm that offers numerous medical products, is one of several companies that plans to hire more workers for a new facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. According to WFMY News 2, Herbalife will hire 493 employees for the 750,000-square-foot office. Additionally, company officials noted that they plan to invest in state-of-the-art equipment and machines and hope to attract a wide range of qualified professionals to fill job vacancies.
